Our History
At the heart of a conservative barangay of Don Galo lies a 5,018 sq.m. lot of DON GALO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, known as a Hall of Fame Awardee of the Clean, Green & Beautiful School Project of Toyota Philippines and the SIGA top winner of NCR.
In a simple and serene years of 1910, a group of friends namely Mariano Hernandez, Sixto Cruz, Alejo Santos and Cayetano Dela Cruz discussed the possibility of having a public elementary school in Barrio Don Galo. They went around for a possible site and found one. They approached the owner, a certain Mr. Quiogue, and told him their plan. They were able to convince Mr. Quiogue to sell his 4000 sq. m. lot at fifty centavos per sq. m. The civic-minded friends pulled out their resources and did some soliciting to pay the agreed amount to Mr. Quiogue. When this was done, in a true Filipino Bayanihan Spirit, the construction of the Don Galo Primary School began in 1912. Thus, in 1915, the simple thatched hut school was finally erected. The jubilation of the barrio folks was awakened such that the late Mr. & Mrs. Constantino Factor Sr. donated the adjacent 1,018 sq. m. to the school. The Don Galo Primary School opened its doors to the public in 1918. Soon complete elementary education has been offered. And in 1997, the secondary courses were also offered which occupied the other two-storey building.
From then on, more improvements were done by the principals with the help of teachers, parents, pupils and the community. Dr. Bernardo N. Mascarina, the 16th principal, was able to invite Korean Students of Keimyung University, South Korea through their Community Exchange Program, they financed the new toilet building located beside the Kindergarten Room. Clean toilet was provided to promote proper hygiene and sanitation.
In 2008, during the stint of Mr. Gerry A. Lumaban, he made a big shift by changing the plain and old design of pupils’ school uniform into a checkered blue skirts and royal blue pants which gave an identifying statement for our pupils. The closed old main gate was also replaced with a triangular grills so that all the school happenings can be seen from the outside. The “Bring-a-tile” Project paved the way of tiling the front corridors without getting any amount from the school fund.
At the onset of Mr. Recto C. Makinika’s post, National Achievement Test Result has reached the Mastery Level and made the school Ranked 2 in the division and has been maintained due to the rigid and intensified NAT Review Classes conducted. The seemed to be perpetual agony of having an easily flooded school grounds during rainy days was finally over when in February 2010, the drainage system was repaired and then the entire quadrangle was elevated.
Under the supervision of Mrs. Wilma T. Loria, the installation of new Multi-Purpose Gym has come into realization through the Country Development Fund of Congressman Edwin L. Olivarez and was inaugurated and is serving its purpose. Currently, the new 3-storey building is now in placed and the sole structure being occupied by all the pupils. It is being propagated by Mrs. Ma. Digna F. Atienza, newly transferred principal. Subsequently, with her efforts another building is now in offing and will be completed within the year. It is anticipated that in the coming year 1 more new building will be built and ready to be utilized as classrooms. The equipment for e-classroom have already been set and just waiting for the installation by the DepED ICT Team as soon as the new building is completed.
As Mrs. Michelle D. Camposano became the OIC-Principal on 2018, she brought back the glitz and glory of our school by highly inspiring the teachers and pupils to work their best that winning the elocution, sports and even teacher-related contests were realized. She also paved the way of building the mushroom house and aquaponics. And the momentous 100 years celebration of Don Galo Elementary School has finally inplaced. Such a great breakthrough for a Century of providing quality and relevant education for all.
Up to this moment, numerous proposals and supports are still coming.
